Mono Threads

Mono threads are smooth threads without barbs where 10-20 of these threads can be inserted into the skin to help encourage skin tightening and rejuvenation. Mono threads are an effective means of tightening the skin, which in combination with cog threads, produce that lifting effect that we are all after.

This relatively painless treatment works really well in areas such as necklines, neck sagginess, the forehead, and under eyes – but you can apply them anywhere in the skin.

MonoThread
How does it work?

As we age, our bodies gradually produce less collagen. By the age of 70, you will have about an 80% reduction in the volume of your skin. This loss of volume  and strength leads to excess skin, and wrinkles. The function of collagen is to keep our skin smooth supple and stronger, in order for our skin to support the tissue beneath.

PDO threads provoke the body’s healing response, causing the production of new collagen in the area of treatment. This healing response also create cellular renewal and neovascularisation (new blood vessels to carry important oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells) resulting in improved skin texture and elasticity.

Most people return to their normal activities soon after the treatment, however we do recommend to allow at least 3 weeks prior to big events such as weddings before your treatment. As the threads are applied by needle, you may experience some minimal  post treatment swelling, tenderness, bruising and redness that can last up to 14 days, but nothing that a little concealer can’t hide.

Side effects and complications sometimes occur but are very rare with this treatment.  Most people experience no side effects.  Minor and temporary side effects such as a small bruise at the insertion site can happen.  Some people also experience a prickly sensation where the threads was placed, that can last a couple of days. All risks will be discussed in detail at the time of your consultation. A full medical history will be discussed prior any treatment.

Results may be seen 6-12 weeks after the procedure and may last a minimum of 12 months. The procedure can repeated after 12 weeks and then annually or as required to continue to maintain your results. These  smooth PDO threads are often used in combination with other treatments such as Dermal Fillers and Botulinum toxin treatments.
