Botox® for men
Botox® for men
Botox®: The simple cosmetic treatment giving men a confident edge
Botox® is a treatment that is increasingly being sought by men looking for subtle, natural cosmetic procedures that restore self-confidence. After trying Botox for the first time, many men find that it helps them to feel more confident and assured about their appearance in the workplace and social settings. Botox is also commonly used therapeutically to stop excess sweating.
While Botox is not intended to fundamentally alter a person’s appearance, the effect does create a more rested, youthful look that withdraws some of the hardness from the face without taking away the masculine look that men are seeking to maintain. There is no lasting commitment with Botox because the results begin to fade three to six months after treatment. Ultimately, Botox for men is increasingly being discovered to be a quick, effective way to get an edge without any downtime.
How men are using Botox® to look younger and more confident
Many professional men find Botox to be something that gives them an advantage in a competitive workplace. Long work hours that can begin to wear on the face combined with seeing fresh faces come into the workplace can create insecurity about one’s ageing appearance. The brilliance of Botox is that it can address “mature” spots using precise, efficient injections without altering the overall composition and balance of the face. Typically, men can very subtly and effectively use Botox to address tell-tale zones of the face that are impacted by the expressions we make as we smile, laugh, grimace or squint to focus on a computer screen. This includes:
One of the most common concerns men have when they show up for a Botox consultation is that the lines and drooping on their faces is making them look angry. As a result, people in the workplace are assuming that they are grumpy or difficult to work with. Botox treatments are used to soften the “anguish” points on the face that create that harsh, displeased look that sometimes settles in because of ageing. This ultimately has the effect of helping men to appear more confident and relaxed.
Is Box Different for Women and Men?
While Botox works the same for both men and women, application techniques can differ. Botox is a protein complex derived from bacterium C. botulinum that has been safely used as a cosmetic treatment for more than 15 years. Botox will not travel from the injection site to the rest of the body following treatment.
The desired results of the patient are what ultimately determine the technique used during Botox treatments. Generally, male Botox injections are tailored for the muscular landscape and bone structure of men when trying to achieve a rested appearance that preserves and accentuates masculine features. This helps to retain the rugged, broad features that give the face its structure while softening lines in strategic points. It should be stressed that the goal of Botox is not to alter the structure or appearance of the face. Botox treatments instead bring a smooth, rested look that often helps people to appear younger, healthier, and more vibrant. For men seeking more dramatic results, dermal fillers can plump up areas that have lost volume or smoothness.
Botox® for hyperhidrosis (excess sweating)
Men who suffer from excess sweating that can be frustrating and embarrassing can manage the problem using Botox injections. Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition characterized by excessive sweating without triggers like hot temperatures or exercise. The amount of sweat produced can be so extreme that it soaks through clothing and smells. Many people who suffer from excess sweating must sit out physical activities like running and dancing to avoid embarrassing situations. In recent years, Botox has emerged as a very simple and effective treatment for managing excess sweating. Botox works by blocking the nerve signals that send cues to the sweat glands. A single Botox treatment is not a permanent fix because the glands will generally regenerate within six months. However, many patients find that they can enjoy results for increased stretches of time after one or two treatments.
While hyperhidrosis treatment is the most common therapeutic application of Botox, it is not the only one. Both men and women commonly seek Botox treatments to help manage migraines, eyelid muscle spasms, strabismus, limb spasms and over active bladder. It is important to have a consultation to see if Botox could be an effective treatment for any of these conditions if you have been unsuccessful with other treatment approaches.
Botox®: A quick, non-invasive way to get an edge without any downtime
Unlike some cosmetic procedures, Botox requires virtually no downtime. Many men can book Botox appointments during lunch breaks or between other appointments. During a treatment, Botox in injected just below the skin at strategic points on your face using a fine needle. Typically, one treatment involves several patterned injections throughout the face. Your specific injection pattern will be based on the areas of focus you have discussed with your doctor during a consultation prior to treatment. While healing is nearly instantaneous, mild swelling around the injection site is not entirely uncommon. A Botox procedure can take between 10 minutes and 30 minutes. The results of Botox begin to appear three to four days following injection. Typically, men see “peak” results within 14 days.
