Belkyra® is an FDA-approved injectable drug. It contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness due to submental fat (often referred to as double chin treatment).

Belkyra contains a non-human, non-animal formulation of deoxycholic acid. This is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected under the chin, the deoxycholic acid breaks down the unwanted fat. Once fat cells are destroyed, they no longer accumulate or store fat.
How long does a Belkyra treatment take?
Injections are administered into the fat under the chin by our expert providers. Each in-office treatment session typically takes 15-20 minutes. Many patients experience visible results with two to four treatments spaced at least six weeks apart. No more than six Belkyra® treatments are administered. For most patients, downtime following a treatment session with Belkyra is minimal.
Once the desired aesthetic outcome from Belkyra treatment has been achieved, the need for Belkyra re-treatment is not expected. That is due to the reason that Belkyra causes the lasting destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.

What are the possible side effects from Belkyra?
For most clients, downtime following a treatment session with Belkyra is minimal.
Common side effects may include: pain, swelling, redness, bruising or numbness at the injection site. Also, some may experience the formation of small areas of firmness. Because of the potential, your expert injector will offer individual recommendations to reduce the likelihood of side effects. Most adverse Belkyra reactions are mild or moderate and can be resolved without the need for medical intervention.
Are multiple Belkyra treatments necessary for results?

Some patients experience results with as little as one treatment. However, many patients experience visible results with two to four Belkyra treatment sessions spaced six weeks apart. In addition, as many as six Belkyra treatments may be administered.
